If you are interested in choral and group singing, there are many opportunities in the St. John’s and surrounding areas available to you. Here are the groups that I am currently conducting; if you have any questions, are interested in joining, or would just like to come to try out a rehearsal, please contact me here.

Coastal Sounds Community Choir

Coastal Sounds is a three-part mixed community choir based in Conception Bay South, NL. The choir rehearses on Wednesday nights at the Admiral’s Coast Retirement Home in Upper Gullies.

Coastal Sounds has performed at a number of different venues, including churches and special events in Conception Bay South, the Kiwanis Music Festival in St. John’s, as well as D.F. Cook Hall at Memorial University. The choir is comprised mainly of members living in the CBS area and all come from different musical backgrounds and experiences. The choir invites new members to join in September and in January. No prior singing experience is necessary and all people enthusiastic about singing and willing to learn are welcome to join.

The Coastal Sounds Community Choir is the flagship project of the Coastal Sounds Choir Association (CSCA). To find out more, visit our website and like us on Facebook.

Aurora Women’s Choir

The Aurora Women’s Choir was created in September 2014 as part of the expansion of the CSCA. It currently consists of 28 members (as of Fall 2015) and performs mostly 3 and 4 part a cappella repertoire.

Aurora made their debut at the CSCA Annual Holiday Concert in December 2014. The choir has performed at their own concerts throughout CBS, as well as at the Rotary Music Festival in St. John’s. The choir has been invited to represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the UNISONG Choral Festival in Ottawa on Canada Day 2016.

Auditions are held in September and January for the choir, which rehearses on Sunday nights from 7-9 PM at Topsail United Church.

Topsail United Church

Topsail United Church has three choir programs, two of which I direct along with my wife and the church’s organist, Beth Cranston. There is a three-part mixed choir that sings for the 1st and 4th service of every month, as well as a men’s choir that sings for the 2nd service of every month.

Choir rehearsals occur every Thursday night, with the men only meeting on the 1st Thursday of every month. These choirs are open to anyone who wishes to come and experience singing in the church.

Topsail United Church also has a children’s choir program. For more information about this program and the church, please visit the church’s website and on Facebook.
